Ok, so how do I hook up my Cable Modem?

You need to first find out if you have a network card already installed.  A network card or Ethernet card as some people call it, looks like a big phone jack.  If you look at the back of your computer you should see a jack that looks like the one below.  It is the only place that you can plug in the Ethernet cable that came with your cable modem.

If you have a Network card already installed all you will have to do is hook up the cable modem to your computer like the diagram to the right.

"I don't have a network card!"

That's ok, the cable modems that Nushagak Cooperative uses can be used through your USB port.  Ask our Customer Service Representative for a diskette with USB drivers for the Ericsson PipeRider. A USB port is typically located on the back of your computer and looks like the picture below.

Once you have located your USB port use the supplied cable to hook up every thing like the picture to the right.

Place the diskette containing the USB drivers in your diskette drive.  When all the cables have been connected, the computer will automatically search for the USB drivers specific to your operating system. If prompted for the location of the drivers, enter the drive letter of your diskette drive. (The Windows XP drivers are located in the XP Drivers folder on the diskette). Follow the on-screen prompts to install the drivers. The PipeRider USB driver is installed first. Then the installation procedure is repeated and the NDIS Network driver is installed.

Reboot your computer when prompted.
